I have no insight but Hoffman and the Jackets just makes too much sense for them not to work something out.

But then I remember the Blue Jays having Bautista, Encarnacion and Donaldson in the lineup...all right hand power bats and everyone said AA was going to acquire a left handed bat. Then he goes and brings in another right handed bat in Tulo.

Less than you probably think. Jackets are built on the backs of defense and Hoffman is the antithesis on defensive skill.

True but so is Panerin then that didn't stop them from getting him. Jackets like having a pure goal-scorer at least on one line

Clearly Chara makes sense for the Pens due to their shortage of lefty Dmen. Oh wait...

I can definitely see Hoffman to the Preds. Probably dying to play in Nashville with Ovechkin.

Ek, did your sources that said Columbus and Nashville have moved on from Hoffman offer any insight into the delay? Last week his signing was imminent, and then it went quiet for a week. Also curious what happened to Vancouver. They were one of the 5 teams and now not mentioned. I was intrigued about how Vancouver would create cap space for Hoffman. Kinda wondered if they found a taker for Eriksson, like maybe Detroit? Is it possible Vancouver is still involved behind the scenes?

Also, didn't Chara give an interview saying he will only sign with Boston and is just waiting to see what the season looks like first? If players are being asked to spend 6 months in a bubble then he would just retire with his young family. But if it looks like a more traditional season then he would sign. He simply wanted to avoid signing now, and then backing out if it's 100% in a bubble. I don't think it has anything to do with Penguins being interested. Maybe I'm wrong though. If your sources are saying Pittsburgh then I believe it.

In what world is Ottawa looking for defensive help?

Not that Vatanen wouldnt make a great addition to the team (any team) especially at a lower-cost but they have eight defensemen on NHL contracts right now if u include Zub plus another in Brannstrom that could make the jump.

He's gonna replace Horny as the net front presence on the PP though.

Ek is definitely dialed in on this one.

Pens can't do anything until Malkin is traded to Chicago to be The Man.

How the heck does Chara signing in Bos have anything to do with Pit?

CHI is working on that as we speak. We're going to take Seabrook back in that trade because well, that's what JR does.

Dialed it in bad. I picture him having a wall with recycled ideas and just throws darts at them.

Maybe the Hoffman signing was imminent because the Habs had another trade lined up to move someone. That trade fell through, so the Hoffman signing was no longer imminent. Makes sense to me. It's like dominoes. Once the next domino falls then its going to be mayhem.
